Alair Homes Partnership with Blessings in a Backpack: Making a Difference in Childhood Hunger
At Alair Homes, we’re not just about building houses—we’re about building stronger communities. On January 21, 2025, our team had the honor of partnering with Blessings in a Backpack to make a meaningful contribution at Neil Armstrong Elementary in Southwest Florida.
We presented the school with two custom-designed “Buddy Benches”—special benches that create safe, welcoming spaces where students can connect and build friendships during recess. These benches are more than just seating; they provide children with a sense of inclusion, offering a place to feel supported and valued.
During the presentation, we were also proud to donate $5,000 to support Blessings in a Backpack’s weekend food program, ensuring students in need have access to nutritious meals when school is out of session.
Afterward, we had the privilege of touring the school’s food and resource pantry, where Blessings in a Backpack stores food packs. Guided by Lisa Morzes, the school’s Program Coordinator, we saw firsthand the impact of the pantry. This critical resource provides shelf-stable meals, shoes, backpacks, and clothing to families in need. With 150 students experiencing homelessness, the pantry plays a crucial role in ensuring that no child goes without basic necessities.
Joining Glen Harris III from Alair Homes Florida are Kevin Scott, Partner at Alair Homes Sanibel and Casey Key, Matt Marovich, Partner at Alair Homes Casey Key, and Alex Martenson, Director of Client Services at Alair Homes Sanibel. Together, they proudly support this meaningful initiative.
A National Partnership with Blessings in a Backpack
This event also marked the continuation of our national partnership with Blessings in a Backpack, where Alair Homes proudly serves as a Titanium Partner. Our collaboration began in February 2024 at the inaugural “Get Fed Up” event, which raised both awareness and funds for Blessings’ weekend meal programs. Instead of holding a traditional new office launch celebration, Alair chose to invest in this mission to combat childhood hunger, making it an integral part of our community-building efforts.
Along with our market partners, we were able to raise an incredible $18,000 during the event—funds that go directly toward providing weekend meals for children in need.
Join Us at Get Fed Up 2025
We’re excited to continue our work with Blessings in a Backpack and invite you to join us at the “Get Fed Up” event on February 6, 2025, at Scotlynn, 9597 Gulf Research Lane, Fort Myers, Florida. This annual event is a critical opportunity to raise funds and awareness to support elementary students across Southwest Florida.
“As a longtime resident of Florida, I’m acutely aware of the challenges facing our community,” said Glen Harris III, regional partner of Southwest Florida for Alair. “But our team is in awe of what we’ve witnessed here, and we realize there’s a much bigger need than what we’re able to do today. Partnering with Blessings in a Backpack allows Alair to make a real difference in the lives of local children. We’re proud to support their mission and excited to expand our collaboration on a national scale.”
Together, we can help tackle one of the most pressing issues facing children today—hunger. At Alair Homes, we’re proud to be part of this movement, making a difference one meal at a time.
