At Alair Florida, we believe in investing in the future by providing valuable construction industry internship opportunities. And sometimes, that future walks in with a resume in hand and a spark in their eye. Today, we’re thrilled to spotlight Christopher Gebus, who has gone from eager intern to full-fledged Project Manager in just a short time.
Building Careers: Construction Industry Internship Success Story
Christopher’s story begins even before college, with a dual enrollment program at Florida Southwestern State College that planted the seed of interest in construction. This passion only grew at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he quickly switched to the newly accredited Construction Management program.
Repeated sightings of branded Alair trucks sparked Christopher’s curiosity, leading him to research our company. Impressed by our unique approach to custom home building and our commitment to both client and employee success, he set his sights on the Bonita Springs office.
With a resume in hand, Christopher walked right into Barry and Kyle VanWye’s office, the owners and partners of Alair Bonita Springs, and asked about internship opportunities. This initiative, combined with his genuine enthusiasm, caught our attention. After meeting with the team, he knew Alair was the perfect fit.
The internship wasn’t just about tasks; it was about relationships. Christopher forged strong bonds with the Alair team, who fostered an environment of learning and growth. This supportive atmosphere allowed him to excel and contribute meaningfully to projects.
Intern to Manager: Alair Bonita Springs’ Construction Industry Journey
Following graduation, Barry and Kyle saw Christopher’s potential and offered him a project manager position. This exciting promotion reflects his hard work and talent and Alair’s commitment to nurturing future leaders.
Christopher’s ambition doesn’t stop there. In addition to his achievements in construction management, he also holds a commercial pilot license and is bilingual in Polish, being the first generation born in the US. He is currently studying for the Building Contractors License exam, showcasing a dedication to continuous learning and professional development.
Christopher’s journey is a testament to the power of initiative, mentorship, and a supportive work environment. We are excited to see what the future holds for this multi-talented rising star at Alair Bonita Springs!
Barry VanWye, Owner and Partner of Alair Bonita Springs, remarked, “It was a blessing that Christopher sought us out as I wasn’t always so receptive to interns – but now – I want them all if they are like Christopher.”
